Thule license plate clip (long)

The default license plate clips for the Thule bike carrier are not suitable for the 110mm license plates. The 110mm license plates can shift upwards, loosing their clearance in the lower holders and you can quite easily loose your plate. These clips are a bit longer and have two notches. One to prevent the plate from moving upwards, and one to slightly bevel around the license plate edge:

Note: The photos show an earlier version (v3). The new version (v5) has a slightly curved upper notch, aligning the plate better. The v5 clip is also slightly shorter, so it'll only accommodate the holes closest to the plates, depending on the Thule bike carrier model you have. These are designed for and tested on the Thule EasyFold XT. Other types may work as well.

I think Thule picked a very poor design for these clips, but at least these offer a slight improvement and will hopefully prevent you from losing your plates.

Print recommendations

• Pick a strong profile ≥ 4 walls and a .2mm line height
• I recommend PETG or stronger and at least as heat resistant or better, because these plates can be exposed to sun-heat for hours. Alternatively you could pick a more reflective color.
• Alternatively you could print the clips on their sides, this might give the clip better strength characteristics, but that will require supports.
