This model is inspired by the Dovetail Puzzles shown by Chris Ramsay. I love the impossible triangular dovetail design so I made it as a small box but left out the puzzel part. My take on this looks impossible but is much less impossible to open. I added some optional magnets which keep the illusion even when you touch and handle the box.
Normaly you print both parts with filaments in different colors. Use black for one part if you realy want to hide the seems. As dovetail joints are mainly used in woodworking I printed both parts of this box in wood PLA+ filament and stained the lower part redish brown a bit mahagoni style. I think wood filament normaly looks better with more organic shapes but I like this one. It may not look like wood but I love the colors. What do you think?
Slicing:
No supports are needed and 0.2mm layer hight is fine. I use three perimeters and 15% cubic infill.
Optional:
If you want you can add magnets to hold top and bottom in position. There are holes in the model for six round 10mm x 2mm magnets. If you live in the USA use 3/8 inch by 1/16 inch magnets.
