Fusion360 Parametric Laser-Cut Gridfinity Base Plate by The Mad Noodle
Introducing a versatile and customizable Gridfinity Base Plate designed for laser cutting! This fully parametric design, composed in Fusion360, offers flexibility of size and your choice of with or without magnets. By utilizing a two-layer approach, you can achieve optimal functionality by adding a layer specifically for magnets. The bottom Magnet Layer is designed for 1/16th" (1.5mm) material, while the top Grid Layer should be cut from 1/8th" (3mm) material. This setup accommodates standard 6x2mm magnets (they will protrude 0.5mm, but it accommodates perfectly), or if you prefer just the grid, with no magnets needed, simply only cut the top Grid Layer.
Key features include:
- Full Parametric Control: Easily adjust the grid X and Y size, to your needs, laser cutting often allows for larger grids in a single piece, made faster then the standard 3D printing method.
- Edge Offset Control: Create different offset spacing for the front, back, and side edges to perfectly fit tight spaces like drawers.
- Customizable Magnet Diameter: Modify the magnet diameter to suit your specific needs.
- Corner Fillets: Adjust the overall corner fillets for a rounded finish.
To get started, all of the favorited parameters in F360 are fully labeled, so adjust them to your needs (Sort the “Comments” section (click) of the parameter window to order by importance). Then, simply “Save As DXF” the labeled sketches in the "DXF" component and load them into your laser cutter. Glue em together and enjoy a Base Plate that meets your exact specifications quicker and bigger than printing!
