Decoration. LOTS of work, but looks pretty nice when made.

I printed it with:
- Material: PLA, White Silky
- Nozzle: 0.6mm
- Layer height
- Spikes: 0.3mm in Spiral mode
- All others: 0.3mm
- Walls: 3
- Top/bottom 2 layers = 0,9mm
- Infill: 100%
- 100% infill to ensure maximum strength
The centerpart is to the flimsy side
- 100% infill to ensure maximum strength
- Speed: Low…
- 30mm/s on my Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro
- For the spikes I lowered the hot end temperature towards the tip to achieve nice pointy tips.
I managed to avoid issues with clogging, which may be a thing when lowering the temperature below lowest recommended temp for the material.
I took each of the part types into the slicer, then scaled each of them to the maximum possible size, noted the minimum scale found, then printed all parts with that scale, in order to maximize the size of the star for my printer. (Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro)
The model is most likely NOT suited for down-scaling, as the center part will get too thin and brittle.
I am not entirely happy with the design, or more specifically with the interfaces between the center and spikes which needs to be glued. All faces that needs to be glued also needs to be grinded a bit to maximize the adhesive effect. I used Loctite Superglue, but also topped up with a glue gun since I did not trust the adhesive bond from the super glue.
The combination of Silky PLA and making the spikes with spiral mode means they are not “perfectly” shaped, so required some significant handiwork to make it all work out well.
PS.
I have an idea for a better way of making the interface between center and spikes, which I intend to work on at some undefined point in time. No guarantees… :)
