In a chemistry classroom there is a periodic table poster that has a stand. The stand can be raised and lowered, but one of the pieces broke. The goal of this project was to recreate the piece and improve it so it would break again.
On the original model, the plastic holding the hexagon nut broke, and it could no longer keep the screw in place:

Version 2:
The version 1 model broke after about a year. Someone screwed the pin in too tight and it snapped. Instead of just reprinting it, I made it stronger as well.
There are two main difference to version 2. I made the holder thicker to strengthen it, and I changed the shape so it could be printed horizontally so the layers would not snap apart as easily.
The new model:

Various lengths for the small extruded tube were used. When the screw went into the original model, it went in a specific distance, and we tried to replicate that by extending it various distances until the correct one was achieved.
