This system consists of an enclosure in which custom individual tool storage “pockets” are inserted into the slots of the horizontal enclosure. Each tool is stored into its 2-part custom pocket. This provides 2 main advantages over conventional tool racks on Multiboard or Pegboard style panels:
- Easier and faster tool access and stowage.
- Increased tool storage density.
There are 2 main types of enclosures:
- Multiboard: designed with mounting holes spaced 25mm apart.
- Pegboard: designed with mounting holes spaced 1 inch apart.
Both types can also be mounted directly to a wall using #8 wood screws. I designed printable flange washers for Multiboard and Pegboard enclosures that provide a snug fit between the enclosure mounting holes and the screws.

There are 4 enclosure sizes: 2 slot, 4 slot, 6 slot and 8 slot. The 8 slot enclosure requires a 250x250mm bed or larger to print.
Tool Pockets
The left and right tool pocket parts have mating registration holes/pins to keep them together while going in or coming out of the enclosure. The tool itself is held in place by 2 15x3mm neodymium magnets glued in the pocket halves.

The mated tool pocket has a top and bottom groove that slide into the upper and lower tongues of each enclosure location. The left hand part of the pocket has holes for 2 M3x5x4 heat set inserts. One on the top and one in the front.

- The top insert allows the pocket to be secured to the enclosure with an M3x6 thumbscrew inserted from the top.
- The front insert makes it easy to use that same thumbscrew to pull out a pocket from a fully populated enclosure (you'd have nothing to grip on to otherwise).
Note:
Blank pockets can be used to fill voids if you have less tools than enclosure slots. The enclosure must be completely populated with pockets for everything to hold together properly.
Tool pocket profiles available
So far I have made custom pockets for the following tools:
- Pro's Kit PK-3001 wire strippers. The newer PK-3001-E's and 8PK-3001D's should fit however.
- Paladin Tools GripP 10 PA1117 wire strippers (recent model has different grips but will still fit in the pocket).
- Swanstrom 325 (Spartan Series) needle nose pliers.
- Knipex 77 22 115 diagonal cuttters.
- IWISS (iCrimp) IWS-2412M open barrel terminals crimping pliers (IWISS IWS-2820M's will also fit in the pocket)
- Engineer PA-09 (Japanese version) open barrel terminals crimping pliers.
- Engineer PA-09 (Taiwan knock-offs) open barrel terminals crimping pliers.
- Knipex 86 03 125 adjustable wrench pliers.
- Knipex 86 05 150 adjustable wrench pliers.
Note:
I know this is not a long list and many of the tools listed are old and not very widely used but they're the tools that I have. Designing a properly fitting pocket requires having the physical tool in hand. Also, some tools like pliers or cutters with an angled tips are generally unsuitable for this kind of system. I may add more pockets in the future if I acquire more tools. I included the Fusion 360 file of the blank pocket for those who want to design pockets for their tools.
