This set of six customizable spinning tops is a remix of the popular "Strong Flying Propeller / Pull Copter (No Supports)" design by Meister Edel. These tops have been adapted to be spun using the same handle and ripcord system from the original pull copter design, so you can keep playing after the trees steal all your propellers.

Features:

  1. Versatile Options:
    • Two tops are standard, optimized for easy printing and play without any modifications.
    • Two are designed to include a 4.5mm BB glued into the tip, enhancing durability and boosting spin speed.
    • Two others are designed for insertion of 4.5mm BBs during a paused print, allowing weight to be added inside the top for improved gyroscopic stability.

Recommended Print Settings:

Material: PLA/PETG/PC/PA-x/ABS/ASA/PEEK

Layer Height:

  • 0.08mm for the smoothest possible finish, especially beneficial for the tops with finer details.
  • 0.12mm is also a great option for balancing speed and quality, maintaining high-resolution prints without excessive print time.
  • Adaptive Layering (where applicable) can help reduce print times while maintaining fine details where needed.

Supports:

  • The three models requiring supports will benefit from manually placed supports in areas like overhangs on the tops' spindles and tips.

Infill: 20-30% for lighter tops, 40-50% for added weight and stability (especially for the gyroscopic BB designs).

Nozzle Size: A standard 0.4mm nozzle is ideal, but using a smaller 0.25mm nozzle could enhance surface smoothness for the fine details, especially at lower layer heights.

Advanced Tips:

  • Mid-Print Pausing: For the models that need BB insertion, you can use your slicer's pause feature at the specified layer to add weight to the tops and enhance their spin time and stability.
  • Manual Supports: Ensure supports are placed only where necessary to preserve fine features, focusing on areas like the base of the tops and any sharp tips. Consider using tree supports or another custom approach that minimizes scarring on the print.

Difficulty:

Intermediate to Advanced. While basic prints are straightforward, using manual supports, pausing prints for BB insertion, and handling very fine layer heights will require some experience with slicer settings and printer calibration.
