I like to keep the unused filament spools in vacuum bags (yes, moisture). Problem is that majority of designs available tend to use the spool central hole for hanging. But this approach is not compatible with vacuum bags.
Also I have very (but VERY) little space for storage. This model is meant to fit in the shallowest spaces and hold a spool of 1KG filament. In my case behind a door.
The spool holder can be mounted directly on the wall. I opted to mount many of them on a wooden board which was secured on the wall in order to minimize the number of wall holes.
The model is very basic (nothing fancy) but functional. It features a 3 degrees draft in order to push the spools against the wall and also to compensate any eventual material fatigue.
Extra hardware needed:
- 2 pieces of screws up to 5mm diameter suited for surface you will mount on.
Print instructions:
- any (nonflexible) filament
- don't be shy on perimeters and infill. I tested 3 perimeters and 15% infill. after 2 months of testing, the supports are still strong - no sign of fatigue.
