Tensegrity is cool! I wanted to create a model that I wouldn't have to assemble, but would still display tensegrity in action. I wondered if the string art ideas people were using would work well enough for tensegrity. It turns out they do!
This design is strong enough to hold a soda can.
I made this design using the flowscad crate in Rust.
WARNING: Don't leave this model in the sun. The thin filament strands are very susceptible to stretching when they get warm.
PRINTING:
This model should work with normal 0.2mm layer printing. Take care when removing from the build plate to bend in a direction orthogonal to the stringing. Otherwise, you put all the stree on the lower strings and you might break a couple of them.
