The french cleat duck hook model is great but I needed something bigger. There is a remix that makes it bigger but that was still not long enough to hold extension cords. The hold part also was sitting too low which surprisingly made it less stable on the cleat when I grabbed whatever was hanging there.
This is a redesign from scratch which my wife says it reminds her of a pelican. So I give you the “french cleat pelican hook”.
The hook is 22mm wide and 60mm long. FreeCAD and STEP files included if you need to modify it. There is a slight angle towards the back with additional thickness there. I've been using it for some time now with a 50ft 12ga extension cord without issues. I printed with 3 perimeters, 30% grid infill.
Versions:
v1, original version: Strong, as mentioned above, but there was a bit too much flex, especially when hanging 3+ lbs things toward the tip. For lighter items (say, under 1 lbs) this is more than enough. (Also updated 2025-01-23 with a small chamfer to smooth out the edges.)
v2, added 2025-01-23: I've decreased the back radius and made the underarm a bit thicker. This should make it a lot stiffer and stronger.
