Hi,
this is my solution I came up with after our SMD specialist asked me to find a better storage solution for our SMD feeder. Our Mycronic Pick-and-Place maschines use different sizes and types of these feeders depending on the running assembly job. Every feeder that is not used is stored outside the maschines. And since one feeder alone can cost up to several hundred euros we need to keep them safe.
The design is pretty simple. The systems uses 6 mm and 8 mm steel rods and the printed parts. We have two main categories of feeders in use “small” 8 mm types and “big” 12 mm and above. We placed the storage system in small esd trays for better handling. The length of the rods fits the inner dimensions of these trays.
You need:
Small holder (8 mm)
- 2 holders 6 mm
- 2 holders 8 mm
- 2 spacer 6-8 mm
- 1 rods 6 mm, length 255
- 1 rods 8 mm, length 255
Big holder (12 mm)
- 4 holders 8 mm
- 2 spacer 8 mm
- 2 rods 8 mm, length 355
No special printing parameters necessary. Print as you like.
2 walls and 10% infill is enough. I used ESD PLA.
The file contains print dummies to optimize scaling if you need a different size or your tolerances doesn't fit. Also included is a small 6-to-8 mm adapter in case you ran out of 8 mm rod like I did.
P.S. If you are an engineer or technician in an electronics company and you are also using MyCronic maschines … you can message me. Maybe we can exchange thoughts on our daily problems and solve them together.
Happy printing!
