Intro
After the assembly of the BugBu machine I tried various X carriages and toolheads but none of them satisfied me. So I decided to integrate the BMG extruder into the carriage itself to achieve a compact, stiff and easy to assemble thing.
This creation can be used for any machines with x2 8mm rods with 50mm distance.
- No crappy magnetic mounts
- Full 235x235mm bed availability in the FlyingBear P902 frame
- More off-bed clearance for nozzle wiper
- No backlashes
- Zip ties mounts for easy cable management
BOM
- LM8UU bearings: x4
- BMG parts diy kit
- Small NEMA17 stepper
- E3Dv6 hotend assembly
- 4020 part cooling blower
- 3010 hotend fan (use any high flow one)
- BLTouch
- Bunch of M3 heatsets
- M3 screws
- 2mm zip ties
Endstop remark
Because I'm using an old Soviet microswitch with his own mount as X endstop the endstop mount isn't provided but there is a M3 heatset hole on the carriage's back for any customization.
Other info
The BLTouch offsets are (-25, -18). The nozzle has (y=-22, z=-36) mm offset from the bottom rod.
I printed my carriage competely from ABS. You can choose PETG if you don't plan to use this in the heated chamber.
