AUDIOENGINE 2+ SPEAKER STANDS

A simple and easy printable speaker stands for angeling your favorite speakers when they are a little bit lower than they should be.

I designed 3 different versions, all with the same dimensions but different angles and different heights.

Determining the perfect angle for your setup:

Try to angle your speakers with some cardboard and measure the height. The flatter the front of the speakers appear to you, the better sound you'll have (sweet spot). This is also quite dependent on what kind of desktop setup you're running. Normal, bar and even standing.

My suggestions:

  • Mid and low table at, steeper angles (15°, 20°)
  • Mid and high table at swallow angles (10°, 15°)

There is a tolerance, but the perfect center and sweet spot is almost impossible. Off by 5° is not that much of a dealbreaker but try to get it as close as possible.

Here is a small spec sheet:

  • 10° (31.55mm)
  • 15° (44.5mm)
  • 20° (57.48mm)

Oh, and the speakers also gain a little bit of height (at the back), so try to factor that in as well.

Also some acoustic tips regarding speaker placement and angles. Speaker 1, speaker 2, and listener should all have the same distance within. Speakers are 50cm apart, try to be 50cm apart from both speakers. Try to get a 60° angle, rotated of course inwards. While doing that, you'll live in the sweet spot, where all soundwaves align and combine for a sweet listening experience.

Keep in mind that bass travels much further and therefore needs more distance from the listeners. Some frequencies need more time and, therefore more distance until they reach one oscillation complete frequency. Further = More Bass*, Closer = Less Bass*

*Not in all scenarios, this is also dependent on the room and placement of the speakers.

The distance between the speakers also plays a part, but not as important. Doing something silly like 10cm apart, won't sound good at all and would also destroy the stereo image.

You did all of that and it still doesn't sound good? I would be happy to help :)
