I'm building my Airbus-style home cockpit. Not a real big one (don't have the space, time or money), but more a mobile one, consisting of 3 blocks with wooden cases which can be fixed on the desk table or can stand on the floor.

I found this brilliant design AIRBUS TILLER STEERING by 3D-AEROSPACEWORKS which can be found here:
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/airbus-tiller-steering-3d-print-msfs-x-plane12-fenix-a320-flybywire-a320neo

A Tiller is a special handle (normally only on the pilots side) to steer the plane on the ground during taxing.

With the pedals (and the rudder) it makes only +/- 7°, with the tiller you can make approx. +/- 75°.

I remixed the design a little as i want to mount it in a small wooden box like shown in the picture "Tiller mounted with Joystick.jpg", where i can mount the Thrustmaster TCA Sidestick Airbus Edition as well.

With a spare clamp from an old Saitek Thrust Lever Block it will be fixed on the table plate as shown in "Tiller with Joystick.jpg".

As the original thing is not for free, i cannot publish all parts, but only the files I changed by myself, shown in blue in the picture.

But i can asure the thing (especially the handle) is worth every buck....

When looking at the original design you'll see a needed tactile button for the Tiller Disconnect function. This one is suitable: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B08Q7HNFHS

Changes

Against the original design i redesigned
5 Structure 1
6 Structure 2
10 Top-Plate (With Lettering)
The INO-file

and left out the files
8 Base-Plate
9 Cover-Sleve
11 Stopper
13 Table-Clamp Mount

Instead of a hard to find spring i'm using a normal rubberband. It's working fine.

Additionally I created a frontplate and PCB-Holder to be mounted in the wooden housing for connecting the Arduino Micro to the PC, acting as a nomal joystick. The PCB, holding the Arduino Pro Micro is 40x38 mm, see "14 USB-Connector.stl".

The hook on the right back - "15 Plateholder.stl" - is only to compensate some forces from the clamp.

Wooden Housing

The box for the tiller is 150 x 150 x 90mm of 12mm thick chipboard, where the left wall has the opening for the USB-Connector.

The top plate is a 4mm thick plywood, of course also 150 x 150mm

The base plate has 370 x 210 x 12mm chibboard.

All the wooden parts were painted in silver gray (RAL 7001).

Update August, 17th, 2024
To easy the re-building of the housing, i added a 3MF File with the housing.
Ungroup it and then you have the measurements of all wooden parts.
Of couse you could print them as well, i prefer painted wooden housings as they are more stable.

The analog potentiometer has to be matched to "Rudder" in FSX (or other Flightsimulator), the button can only be connected via FSUIPC, but i haven't tested it yet. But at least it is already there...

If someone found out how to use this button correctly, pls. let me know.

Update November, 5th. 2024
I replaced the old Saitek Throttle Clamp with a new designed one.
The clamp itself was designed by myself and the screw was found (and scaled) from here:
https://www.printables.com/model/339528-logitech-flight-yoke-desk-mount-screw
The clamp is fixed to the housing with two M5x20 screws and nuts.

Update November, 10th. 2024
Because of cracking noises when tightening, I didn't have enough confidence in my own clamp design, so I built an even stronger one.

Update April 2025
I change the whole design of my "homecockpit" and since then i don't donate a dedicated Arduino for the Tiller, but connect it with a Leonardo inside my main homecockpit box.
For this i directly wired a 2 meter 5-wire DIN-cable (for all outside Germany: it's the same then MIDI) in the Tiller Housing and with a plug in my main homecockpit box. Also since then i do not need the original INO-File but using my own one.

The new connection parts are included here as well as the "old ones" for an Arduino Pro Micro.
