This is my take on a RetroPie handheld. It uses mostly off the shelf parts.

This is my first version of a RetroPie portable handheld. It measures 185 x 90 x 26 mm. It's designed around a Raspberry Pi zero 2 w and uses mostly off the shelf parts:

-4.3" LCD TFT Display( easily found on Aliexpress). Connection to the pi zero trough composite video( signal wire soldered to TV test pad and GND to GND)

-2 ~ 63x53x6mm Li-ion Cells in parallel(these are the batteries i had laying around, they're from a DELL laptop battery pack)

-for the battery protection/charge board, I've used a 2A 5v boost board from Aliexpress( https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005656435363.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller.1.2c9236d0M1zlfG&gps-id=pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller&scm=1007.40196.366991.0&scm_id=1007.40196.366991.0&scm-url=1007.40196.366991.0&pvid=d19a5db2-d111-41c9-84f5-77a108f0ef0f&_t=gps-id:pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller,scm-url:1007.40196.366991.0,pvid:d19a5db2-d111-41c9-84f5-77a108f0ef0f,tpp_buckets:668%232846%238109%231935&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21RON%216.23%216.23%21%21%211.32%211.32%21%402103864c17312417363478122e77e0%2112000033910319611%21rec%21RO%214805560416%21XZ&utparam-url=scene%3ApcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller%7Cquery_from%3A )

-the joystick used is a generic joystick module( https://www.amazon.com/Teyleten-Robot-Dual-axis-Controller-Raspberry/dp/B0CPFDKWZF/ref=sr_1_2 )

-I've used a Raspberry Pi pico as an ADC to convert the analog output of the Joystick module to a digital input for the Pi zero.

-For the buttons, I've used generic 4.5mm microswitches soldered to perfboard. There are 3 types of configurations needed(the pad with 4 switches and the slimmer 2 switch pad need to be made twice, as they are needed for the dPad, ABXY pad and the triggers respectively).Images with the layout and rough dimensions are provided. Please note that the pads above the battery need to be soldered as flat and low profile as possible in order for the battery to fit.

-Audio card I used is this type https://www.amazon.com/VizGiz-External-Microphone-Headphone-Raspberry/dp/B09VBWJQBV/ref=sr_1_19?crid=265AP7YPFUP12&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.6qAs-WOIOI16MH25BWyQn648aVe7fGyN95U9EjJFEs8RwUaF-4vg2OHg5PQnhKE3EvMDjLO6nTC92KSKQotVVhWmr_wcaZUHhAhIuKh8s0PVS7ZGiUEKk-f4RkOZpFSpq7L0e9489xJ7rKRzkNNkBsavI5nJ3Qnb997mXo6VPVFrFuADQgp6BmKNWggTO2Ext_Hh7zkS1EgsGMZoaW0VXAM-6oG3rZ5i048yATfq9jU.oaM6nduCfk9CU2EkqebYME_CBCcvZiTYNMunihUugzU&dib_tag=se&keywords=usb+audio+card&qid=1731240259&sprefix=usb+audio+card%2Caps%2C215&sr=8-19 .I had to desolder the USB port and solder directly to the pads to save space.

Sorry if the description is hard to understand. If you have any questions i am happy to answer them.

Please also note that I am not a professional 3D modeler, i purely do this as a hobby. I also try constantly to improve this model, as it is not perfect.

A big source of documentation for this project comes from the YouTube channel Bytes N Bits( https://www.youtube.com/@BytesNBits ). Connection of the buttons pads trough GPIOnext is described here:
