Relocates two of the rear buttons on your elite controller to the front. These prints do not interfere with the headphone jack nor the charging dock either!
I've been prototyping this idea for a few months now in my spare time, as I just cannot get used to 4 rear paddles, but I still need the extra keys for PC gaming. They make for excellent shortcut keys, such as F5 quicksave, equipment hotkeys, etc. The Xbox Accessories app can directly bind keyboard keys, as can Steam Input.
Requirements:
- Xbox Elite Controller. I have a series 2, although this should fit a series 1.
- 3mm metal dowel, 56mm or longer*. Cut to length.
- Good PLA+. PETG is also fine. Just avoid bargain bin PLA as it warps just enough to make button presses inconsistent.
* I strongly recommend against using two separate 25mm dowels, as you will get slight warping when pressing down. Just enough to lose 100% consistent key presses. You can find 100mm long assorted diameter dowel kits for under $10 online.
Printing:
- 50% Infill (might be overkill). 0.20 structural or similar. Supports everywhere. Brim only if needed. 3mf is supplied, but I heavily suggest printing each part individually.
- Body Connector: Alignment rods (the two rods sticking out) stand straight up. No brim should be needed when printed solo.
- Front Wrap Paddle: Print twice (2x), with the second being mirrored in the Z-Axis. This gives one for each side. I suggest printing them sideways. If printed slowly a brim shouldn't be needed.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please comment and ask. I spent a lot of time on this project, and would appreciate any feedback!
