A replacement for those that like me had their telescopic snow and ice-scratcher break in the middle.

Update v2:
Added a sturdier and easier to print version optimized for printing on the diagonal upper chamfers. Step file included, so you can adjust as well if needed.
Bought myself a telescopic snow-broom/ice-scraper from Biltema (Art.nr. 37-421) and when I needed it most, it broke. Right in the middle, thin plastic tends to do so.
Designed a beefed up version with an equally beefed up lever.
The spring got lost so had to come up with a solution for that as well.
And what do people with 3D printers at home have with a higher then 50% chance lying around… “Paper clamps”.

You will need:
- one small paper clamp, specifically the parts marked in the picture above.
Either remove the bend out ends all together, or at least remove one and bend the other one straight. - A M4x25 flathead screw and one M4 nut.
Printed with:
- 4 walls
- 5 top/bottom layers
- min 20% 3D honeycomb infill
- 0.2 layer-height
- PETG or better ABS
while PLA may work fine (first print was so good that I kept using that)
expect it to go brittle or break over time, so be aware (we can always print another though) - Use manual support, this is a functional part not a print optimised one.
Print the connector standing and the lever on it's side (files are oriented correctly).
The connector is very tight fit on the thicker alu-pipe, the thinner telescopic alu-arm slides with nice resistance, gives a really stable feel, compared to the thin-walled and flimsy original part.
I used a small heat-gun to make the fitting easier.
- Remove the stopper at the end of the thin telescopic arm (Broom side)
- Push the thin arm through the connector from the end with the recess (picture top side)
- Reattach the stopper on the thin telescopic arm
- Push (may need some elbow-grease or heat) the open end of the thick arm into the connector. It should be pushed all the way in, for most durable connection of the two arms. When the foam grip touches the connector, it's all in.
- Insert the slightly misused springy parts of the paper clamp into the recesses of the lever and press all three parts onto the connector to then fix all in place with the M4x25 screw.
- Don't overtighten the screw and you should have a tool you may enjoy using in the wintertime.
I know that most people won't have this specific telescopic ice-scraper, but in case you have something similar, maybe you can adopt this to your needs.
