If you use a lap that has a smooth bottom when it is not spinning you need to turn the water off. If you do not water can run under the lap and get into the space between the platen and the base and possibly damage the bearings. I made this so I do not need to worry about doing that.
I made this a few years back and it works well. The top is attached to the lower with silicone adhesive. Then a small amount of silicon lube is smeared on the inside and it is forced onto the top platen. Just push it down enough to clear any laps.
You do not want it to touch the drip bowl.
Print in TPU or other flexible filament. I used 1.2mm walls and top /bottom with 20% infill.
Added a version that can be printed as one piece. Will need supports so make sure your tpu settings are well tuned.
