My first attempt at creating a musical instrument is a basic flute that can also be played as a whistle.

This is a very basic flute with finger holes, and designed it in 3 pieces to allow the model to be printed on practically any 3D printer, but also for adjustability so that you can position mouthpiece, and hands more comfortably.
The flute is roughly tuned to C5 and can be overblown to play the next octave as well.
Definitely print this model with supports enabled. I've found the supports flatten the finger holes a little which flattens the notes, so this allows you a little leeway to tune the instrument a little by using a fine file to scrape away a little plastic, which will sharpen the notes and bring the instrument more or less into key. Avoid using a deburring tool on the finger holes, as you'll most likely take too much plastic away and leave all of your notes too sharp.
I made the connection tolerances quite tight, however, your milage may vary depending on the filament that you use and the shrinkage after it cools. If the connection between pieces is loose, 1 or two turns of a thin plastic tape (I find Kapton works well) should be enough to make the pieces tight enough to play comfortably.
I made the pipe diameter a little too wide for a flute at this pitch, so the finger holes are a little too close together at the top, however, the flute is still playable if you get a little creative with finger positioning. I plan to make a narrower bodied version that will force the finger spacing to be wider, and a deeper tuned version that will also have more comfortably spaced finger holes, but I thought that this model was good enough to share as a first effort.
