I was looking for a life buoy model which is nice from all sides … and draw one, et voilà!
It prints in two halfs and needs to be mounted (glued together). Some short pieces of filament can be used as guide for a perfect fit of both halfs (see photo).
Hint: You may set the slicer ‘Elephant foot compensation’ to a lower value (or 0) and sand the joint between the halfs after mounting to hide the gap between the two halfs.
I made 4 models in different sizes (20mm .. 50mm outer diameter). Every STEP file includes two sub-bodies (ring, collar), allowing to easily assign different colors (e.g. white, red) in the slicer.
In case you need other sizes, I included the original FreeCAD file (.fcstd) which allows to change some parameters (see the ‘Dimensions’ spreadsheet inside the FreeCAD document). Of course you need to install FreeCAD (from www.freecad.org), it's free, open source, modular, and powerful!
