Instructions for 3D Printed Magnetic Screwdriver for 1/4" Hex Drive Bits

Materials Needed:

  • 3x 8x3mm rare earth magnets
  • 1x 608 or 606 bearing (or a 3D printed bearing if unavailable)
  • Blue tack (for securing magnets)
  • 1x 3D printed screwdriver body (use appropriate file for 608 or 606 bearing)
  • 1x 3D printed knob (use appropriate file for 608 or 606 bearing)
  • 1/4" hex drive bits (not included, but required for use)

Printing Instructions:

  1. Choose the Correct Files:
  • For 606 bearings: Use the normal files.
  • For 608 bearings: Use the "608 bearings" files.
  • If no bearings are available: You can use 3D printed bearing
  • Print settings: I recommend printing it in 100% infill if not print with at least 3 walls and 30% gyroid infill in PLA, PETG, ASA or ABS. (I printed mine in black PLA

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Insert Magnets: Place the three 8x3mm rare earth magnets into their designated holes in the screwdriver body.
  2. Secure with Blue Tack: If desired, use a small amount of blue tack to secure the magnets in place, ensuring they stay fixed during assembly.
  3. Insert Bearing: Next, insert the 608 or 606 bearing into the designated slot in the screwdriver body, over the secured magnets.
  4. Attach Knob: Finally, attach the 3D printed knob to the bearing, ensuring it rotates smoothly.

Usage:

  1. Insert Hex Drive Bit: Insert a 1/4" hex drive bit into the magnetic end of the screwdriver.
  2. Functionality of Knob: The knob serves as a handle for easy grip and maneuverability during use.
  3. Change Bits Easily: The magnetic holder allows for quick and easy bit changes while securely holding bits during use.
    • For 606 bearings: Use the normal files.
    • For 608 bearings: Use the "608 bearings" files.
    • If no bearings are available: Use the 3D printed bearing option.
