A fully parametric spring optimized for 3D printing.
Modify just a few main parameters, and the geometry adapts automatically.
To be able to change parameters, go in timeline between the groups. Change Parameters. Go in timeline to the end.
Main parameters:
- Length (Determines the number of coils)
- Thickness (Influences stability and width)
- Inside Diameter (Defines the spring's opening)
Key Features:
- Easy to Adjust: Only three main parameters, all others are calculated automatically.
- Robust: Formulas with minimum and maximum limits ensure the geometry always works.
- 3D-Printer Friendly: Default air gap and pitch are optimized for most 3D printers.
Instructions:
- Open the file in Fusion 360.
- Adjust the parameters
Spring_Diameter_Inside,Spring_Thickness, andSpring_Length. - Print the Spring and the Upper and Lower Supports together as one.
- After printing, you can easily remove the Supports.
Of course there are limits, I don't know them all yet.
I needed this for a project to make a spring loaded Twist Lock.
