Multicolor Christmas gift with a bow on top. This model is designed for multicolor/multimaterial printers. Please read the print instructions carefully.

HOW TO PRINT:

With dual extruder:

Option 1 (Tweak the GCODE):

  1. Load 2 different colors of filament into your printer.
  2. Upload both files (Ribbon and Core) to your slicer, position them so that they look like the cover image, and download the GCODE file. (Make sure that supports are enabled, and use whichever extruder does the Core to do the supports. You'll see why later.)
  3. Open the GCODE file in a text editor like NotePad++
  4. Find the place in the code where the box has just finished and the bow is starting.
  5. Type in the command that pauses the printer. The exact command varies depending on the flavor of GCODE that your printer uses. For example, Marlin GCODE uses M0 to pause the program.
  6. Save the GCODE file, and start printing. (KEEP READING! THE INSTRUCTIONS AREN'T DONE!)
  7. The printing will pause automatically before it starts the bow. When it stops, remove the filament that you used for the Core, and replace it with PVA filament (or other suitable support material). You may want to purge the filament to ensure a smooth print.
  8. Resume printing
  9. The supports for the bow will be made of PVA (soluble in water), so you can remove them by putting the print in a tub of water, and letting it sit for a while.
  10. Now your print is done. Enjoy!

With more than 2 extruders:

  1. Load two different colors of filament and a spool of PVA into your printer (3 spools total)
  2. Upload both files (Ribbon and Core) to your slicer
  3. Position the models so that they line up (like in the cover image)
  4. Enable supports (using the extruder with PVA)
  5. Download the GCODE File
  6. Start printing
  7. When the print is finished, put the print into a tub of water. The water will dissolve the PVA, thus removing the supports for you.
  8. Now your print is done. Enjoy!
