Bloom filters are a space-efficient data structure for determining whether or not an item is a member of a set. They are used in many popular databases and internet infrastructure.

When I code bitwise algorithms, I see them as pixel bitmaps like in this model. In the days of black-and-white Macintoshes, this wasn't just a visualization. So I've brought this insight into the 3D printing age.

This model includes two punchcards representing two sets: fruits and veggies. The item cards have pegs that match the appropriate set(s). (Tomatoes and cucumbers are in both sets.)

The URL links to the Github archive with the code for a Fusion 360 plugin you can use to create your own custom sets. The Github README file includes a detailed explanation of the theory and algorithm used to produce these cards.
