I wanted to learn KiCad so I made this SNES style controller in the style of the one from the opening screen of UFO 50. It runs on an Arduino Pro Micro and uses only 3D printed parts for the case and buttons. It uses 7 6x6 tactile switches and an extremely simple PCB for everything else.
Everything fits together with friction and the buttons use weird little springs. Not sure about the durability of the springs but it was the best way to make the buttons feel tactile.
I do not have an AMS or anything so to get the multiple colours I made the top of the case a bit smaller and printed a face plate in a slightly different colour. If you have multi material printer then you can probably do this a lot more elegantly!
The PCB can be ordered here or you can download the gerbers and get them from wherever you want.
The buttons are quite miserable to print and require support due to the little springs. Be careful when pulling them off the build plate and removing the supports. The supported parts don't need to be all that clean as they're hidden by the enclosure once assembled.
The Arduino code uses the Xinput library which requires a few extra steps to program - info on that can be found here.
The materials I used were:
PolyTerra PLA Rose (for the top and bottom pieces)
PolyTerra PLA Charcoal Black (for the buttons)
Creality Hyper PLA Grey (for the faceplate)
