I needed a good solid strain relief for a permanently-embedded USB cable in a project. I looked on this site but could not find anything small and simple like this. I needed one for a 3.5mm cable, and I decided to make a variety of them for future use.
More Details:
- I printed using ABS, Silk PLA and TPU
- For ABS I used a 10mm brim and tree supports (44 degree angle) to avoid supports on the lower edge
- For PLA and TPU I used a 5mm brim
- The two halves were modeled together to cut the center hole roundly, then moved apart 0.2mm for print. The ABS and PLA halves stick together easily after printing despite handling, and break apart easily for use. The TPU halves required a simple slice with a hobby scalpel.
- Pan head Philips M3*10 screws fit snuggly inside the model when secured
- The design could support larger holes up to 8mm
