QUICK TOLERANCE TEST

Test your printer's tolerance from 0.1mm to 0.6mm.
The test is optimized for a 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer thickness.
It should take 10 minutes to print!

As soon as the print is finished, wait for the piece to cool down before removing it from the printer. This helps prevent deformation.

TEST

Once the piece is cool, try bending the tabs upwards:

- Tabs that move effortlessly indicate good tolerance and proper calibration.
- Tabs that make a small click but still move are at the tolerance limit of your printer.
- Tabs that do not move or only move with great effort indicate that those gaps are too tight to print accurately.

CALIBRATION

If gaps are too tight or fused, consider the following adjustments:

Flow Rate

Reduce flow rate if there is excess filament being extruded, causing parts to fuse together. This helps improve precision.
Adjust flow rate in small increments (e.g., 95% instead of 100%) and re-test.

Belt Tension

Tighten the belts if you notice inconsistency in dimensions or misalignment in printed parts. A loose belt can lead to imprecise movements, especially in the X and Y axes.
Loosen the belts slightly if they are overtightened, which can cause excessive strain on motors and lead to skipped steps or vibration artifacts.

Calibration Settings

Check your stepper motor calibration (steps per mm) to ensure the printer is moving the correct distances.
Adjust first layer settings to ensure proper adhesion but avoid over-squishing the filament, which can affect dimensional accuracy.

Retraction Settings

Fine-tune retraction distance and speed to minimize stringing and ensure clean gaps.

Cooling Settings

Ensure the cooling fan is working properly, as insufficient cooling can lead to parts sticking together due to residual heat.

By following these steps and reprinting the test, you should gradually refine your printer’s presets and ability to handle small tolerances and improve the overall quality of your prints.
