Wanted a fully customizable version of the really nice thing:4861011 from thingiverse by mishkin2. This version was redesigned from the ground up using CadQuery (2.1) in CQ-editor (0.2). The source code is included as cq_drill_depth_stop.py. CadQuery is similar to OpenSCAD but runs on top of python and has some very powerful features.

CQ-editor (which is precompiled, static, and available for multiple platforms) can be downloaded from here:
https://github.com/jdegenstein/jmwright-CQ-Editor/releases/

Thanks Jack for design ideas/suggestions!

Here are the changes in this version:

  • Redesigned in CadQuery and included source code
  • Made as parametric as possible based on drill bit diameter
  • Included 3mm to 15mm drill bit sizes in 1mm increments (the beauty of CadQuery)
  • Included imperial 1/8" to 1/2" in 1/8" increments (4 total)
  • Uses M4 bolt and M4 hex nut (instead of square, because this is what I have on hand)
  • M4 hardware is used across all sizes and both metric and imperial versions
