Conclusion

A whole day wasted. This does not work, I feel foolish even going this far to test, we know perpetual motion cannot exist, yet I still tried. The “evidence” posted on YouTube suggesting it does is faked. It probably runs a marginal amount if time longer than simply draining the barrel, the siphoning is very weak and the outflow slow, leaking air in at the outlet, to get the outward flow going, busted for sure.

Assembly

In order for the unit to work you need air tight seals. The top lid needs to be glued in air tight to create a vacuum that drives the siphoning action when water flows out, so the lid and the pipes needs to be glued in with something like silicon.

Operation

Turn the barrel upside down and fill with water, is quite hard to fill up, I used a syringe in the syphon line. Plug the drain pipe and let the excess water drain through the siphon. Place the barrel on it's stand and fill the trough with water till thoroughly covering the siphon hose.

Now remove the plug from the drain hose and be disappointed.
