Standalone version of the tiny inline filament runout sensor.
BOM
- Kailh microswitch (or similar)
- 6mm steel bearing ball
- Short piece of the 4mm PTFE tube
- x3 M2x5 tapping screws
- M3 screw
- M3 t-slot nut
Printing
Use the 0.08-0.1mm layer height with the 0.4mm nozzle. No supports.
Assembling
- Make sure that the steel ball moves on it's slot freely. Clean all the filament strings and blobs.
- Install the microswitch with the two short M2 tapping screws. Use the straight piece of the filament to ensure that it's making a clean click when inserted. Install the PTFE tube pieces.
- Attach the mount to the sensor with M2 tapping screw. The sensor should move freely on the mount.
Notes
I'm using the Kailh microswitch from the old PC mouse and it's the NO switch where is the third leg is unused. You can cut it off.
The legs pitch is 2.54mm so you can use the 3-pin JST XH2.54 connector instead of soldering. Just make sure that you are using SIGNAL and GND motherboard pins, not the +5V one!
