General information

At the end of 2024, I set up version 11 of Helmut Weigl's RoeTest. In the process, I created some 3D designs that I am making available to the community in this collection. You can read more information about my build of the RoeTest and the use of the designs published here in my build report at Radio-Bastler.de (German) or on the RoeTest website (German).

About this Design

This design is only relevant to you if you want to create socket boxes from the KS35/KS50 standard case, e.g. because the designs in my RoeTest Socket Box Selection do not fit your need and you do not have the skills to design custom boxes to your need!

This design consists of various parts to help you build socket boxes from KS35 and KS50 boxes:

  • Drill and cut templates (connector-drill-template-ks35.stl and connector-drill-template-ks35.stl): Temporarily screw them to the plastic boxes to drill mount holes for the M4 screws for the connector and to mark the cutout for the DIN connector.
  • Shims (connector-shim-ks35.stl and connector-shim-ks50.stl) to make sure the DIN connector is mounted in a 90° angle to the case
  • For the KS50 box: A screw spacer (ks50-screw-spacer.stl) that must be mounted inside the box to allow the  M4 nuts to sit flush
  • Bottom plates (bottom-plate-ks35.stl and bottom-plate-ks50.stl) that must be mounted to the plastic boxes using the original screws to make them fit to the RoeTest rails

In addition to the printed parts and the KS35 and KS50 cases you will need M4 screws and nuts to mount the DIN connector.

Please note that the bottom plates have been designed to fit this improved design of RoeTest socket rails, but should also fit the standard RoeTest rails design.

Compensating for part shrinkage

For a perfect fit I recommend to compensate for material shrinkage: Print a sample using the same material and settings and measure shrinkage of the printed parts compared to the model. Then in the slicer apply a size scale factor in x- and y- direction. In my designs I usually have to use a factor of around 1.0025…1.0045 to compensate for my PETG material.

Happy printing!
