This is a remix of @TeachingTech ‘s Dyson battery adapter: hhttps://www.printables.com/model/180116-dyson-stick-vacuum-ryobi-battery-adaptor. See this page and his video for more info (also subscribe, his videos are great).
My version supports my (rather old) Stanley FATMAX 18V batteries (FMC684L). These work well enough for the regular suction mode, but can't support the high suction mode. I think I would need 21v batteries in order to support this.
I used some the following parts:
- 14AWG silicone wire
- 1x 15A/20A rocker switch, like this (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254768444971)
- x2 spade 250 male connectors
- x4 spade 250 female connects, two of which I can to stretch out to fit onto the internal Dyson battery connectors
- x4 M3 by 16mm cap head bolts (I should have used an extra four to connect the spine/locker to the upper body, but my supports messed up the holes so I just glued it on)
I then used CA glue to connect the ‘cable bridges’ to keep the cables down, and to attach the back panel.
The attached STEP file shows how everything goes together. The attached 3MF files show how I printed it.
You will need supports (I used tree/organic), but not in the blind holes where the male spade connectors go, or the blind holes where the spine/locker connects to the upper body.
I used PLA, 0.25mm layer height, two walls, 10% gyroid infill, as I was fast prototyping. But I would make this stronger next time, but it works for now :)
Obligatory warning: Be careful with lithium batteries, they can expose/go up in flames if abused. Undertake this project at your own risk!
