Gridfinity bin for 23ml Tamiya paint bottles

A 1×1×2 Gridfinity bin that fits a single 23ml Tamiya paint bottle. Compatible with any colour of the LP, X, and XF paint series. This bin is not stackable. (With or without paint bottle.)

Main Features

  • Quick and easy print.
  • Compatible with standards compliant Gridfinity base plates
  • Compatible with commonly used disc magnets, for extra secure placement
  • Despite the tight clearance, doesn't obstruct any neighbouring bins
  • Tight fit, so it doesn't fall off, when picking up a bottle
  • Large bottom hole
    • provides visual access so you can see the paint, which comes in extra handy with effect paints, like metallics.
    • provides visual access to a bottom label (factory provided or for your own inventory system)
    • allows for easy bottle removal by pushing the bottle out with your thumb

Thumb hole, label and paint window, all in one.

Recommended print settings and requirements

This is an easy print.

  • The 0.20mm STRUCTURAL preset in Průša Slicer works perfectly fine.
  • Or just use the .3mf with all the print settings in detail that I personally use
  • No supports needed
  • PET-G recommended, as it provides some flex and impact resistance. This provides better protection when accidentally dropping a bottle
  • PLA should work just fine as well, though I haven't tested that material

Printing this model takes less than 30 minutes and less than 8g of filament. (Time measured with 0.20mm STRUCTURAL preset with an 0.4mm high-flow nozzle. Printed in PET-G on an Original Průša MK4/S.)

I personally prefer printing these in clear/translucent PET-G so they don't distract from the coloured bottle cap.

Magnets

The bin accepts up to four disc magnets commonly used with Gridfinity bins. 6mm ∅, 2mm thickness. They should be press fit. Feel free to glue them in with some CA-glue or epoxy if needed. Remember to take care of the polarity. (Default is North-up )

Incompatible Paints

This bin can not be used with

  • TS spray paints
  • PS spray paints
  • square bottles (eg. Paint Retarder, Polycarbonate Body Cleaner, etc.) Though, these square bottles accidentally fit the Gridfinity raster just perfectly well, so you can put them side by side on your grid without using any bin.
  • 10ml paint bottles (these are smaller in diameter. I don't have any of these to test. Please comment with the diameter of these cylindrical bottles! Maybe I can adapt the model to fit these as well.)

Not recommended

❌ Do not use these bins with tea lights or other candles. They might melt your print or even cause a fire.

While common tea lights do fit surprisingly well into this bin, I do not recommend you actually use them for candles! Especially not next to your paints which are flammable!

For a romantic night painting your mini figures, use a LED light.
