I you are tired of the ceramic, wobbly, junky stock tray that makes using your scale almost impossible just print that one :D
I use ABS with supports. Of course, print the tray and the grate separately.
To make it more stable just use some silicone dumpers (used for dumping drawers, you can buy it in almost any hardware store - the smaller, the better).
For strength use whatever you like (I printed it very strong: 6 wall loops and 25% infill).
