I’ve been playing around with lighting ideas lately, and I ended up making this decorative hanging lamp shade. It has a clean, modern look and works great for soft lighting, making the room feel a bit cozier without being too bright. Using white PLA works best for soft lighting. If you use a colored PLA, it'll make the room glow with that color slightly.
This uses a solid 3D object and the Spiral Vase option to achieve the translucently and thin walls.
I added a negative part cylinder to the bottom to create an opening for the light fixture to go into and attach to. This can easily be modified and scaled to the fit the needs of your light. You can also play around with the fuzzy skin option to further customize the shade.
Make sure the height of the negative part remains <1mm in height so it doesn't form walls around the negative part. Center the model and the negative part, and adjust the negative part so the bottom is nearly flush with the bottom of the shade itself.
