I use some Seagate Expansion Desktop external hard drives for backups on my unraid server. The drives get quite hot and after an hour or so I get temperature warnings from the drive. So I made this cooler :)
It needs
40mm fan, preferably 12VDC
4 M3x16 screws to mount the fan
a fan cover (there are plenty here on printable)
Actually I wanted to add a built-in barrel connector, but since I didn't have the right type here, I just cut the cable from the original HDD power supply and soldered it back together with the wires from the fan. I will also replace the fan with one from Noctua, as this one is quite loud...
