Brigid the Celtic goddess of poetry
Brigid, a prominent figure in Celtic mythology, is revered as the goddess of poetry, among other domains. Her name, meaning "exalted one," reflects her high status. Often depicted as a triple goddess, she embodies the diverse aspects of the poetic craft: inspiration, creativity, and the power of language.
As the patroness of poets, Brigid is believed to bestow eloquence, wisdom, and the gift of prophecy upon her followers. Bards and storytellers would invoke her blessings to enhance their artistic abilities and create works that resonated with profound meaning.
Brigid's association with poetry extends beyond the written and spoken word. She is also linked to music, song, and the arts in general. Her presence is felt wherever creativity flourishes, reminding us of the transformative power of artistic expression.
In addition to poetry, Brigid is also associated with healing, smithcraft, and childbirth. This multifaceted nature reflects the interconnectedness of creativity and life's vital forces. Brigid's enduring legacy lies in her ability to inspire artists and healers alike, reminding us of the power of creativity to shape our world and ourselves.
