the early (pre-LCI) version of the bmw i3 had adjustment-elements on both sides of the back-door (hatch). Those elements allow to eliminate any play that might be there when the lock is engaged. Later (LCI) versions come without those elements but a rubber element integrated into the lock itself. Eventually the rubber wears out and the lock develops some play being the cause of rattling noise. Unfortunately the original adjustment elements of the early models seem not to be available any more and one would have to replace the lock in this case.
Also the adjustment-elements may help to stabilize the back door when mounting a bike-rack.
This design is a substitute for the original part. As I do not own a pre-LCI version of the BMW i3 I did create it from scratch matching the dimensions of my 2020 BMW i3 120Ah. You need two instances.
The TPU-element may be printed with little (or even no) infill to retain a little lateral flex
