I have one of those Weber barbecue grills that can be converted on one side from a grill to a small griddle. The challenge is that the grates fit snugly with the grill box, so it's tricky to lift the grates out when you want to convert the grill. I made a small tool to help me lift the grates up a little so that I can get my fingers underneath. You insert the tool between the slots, rotate 90 degrees, and lift. The grates I have are 3/8" in diameter spaced 3/4" apart. Since this is made of plastic, you obviously want your grill to be not hot.
Version 1.1 now includes a hole so you can hook it somewhere.
