Models of all 32 Crystal Classes (= crystallographic point groups) for teaching or practice. Pre-oriented for best adhesion and overhang quality.
There are (almost) no overlaps with my other sets, you can freely mix&match shapes or use them interchangeably. This set is designed with the minimal number of forms for each point group (see below). I would consider this too difficult for a classroom exercise, it is geared more towards explaining directions and face indeces. For this reason I did not obfuscate the model file names here, and provide a pdf file containing the point group assignment.
Check out my other symmetry models:
Didactic set
(Pseudo-)Minerals set
Molecules set
Real Life Set
Simple Set
Spheres (Pac-Man)
Spheres (rings)
Teddys
Things I designed differently in comparison to the other sets:
- this set uses the minimal number of forms / faces
- face indices were kept as small as possible (max = 3)
- as a result some shapes are rather pointy
- let me know if you find any mistakes, or if you have an idea where I can reduce the number of forms any further (if it improves the set I will adapt any change)
- individual models are all scaled to the same volume

Notes on printing:
Best stick with the print orientations I provide. I suggest switching on supports (on buildplate), because due to the above-mentioned design boundaries some faces have problematic overhangs.
