The top part of the snap buttons only has a universal riveting base, which is for the largest size they sell. The smaller rivets shift and move on it. After having to redo a single rivet 3 times because it always shifted 2mm, I decided to fix it for good.

This upgrade includes:
  1. Insert into the round base front tool which perfectly centers and holds the snap button
  2. A holder that goes around the pointy install tool and helps you press the parts down, because otherwise there is nothing to hold them or prevent them from shifting.

Together these two make sure the top part of the snap button is flawless. It also speeds up the process as they are all centered instantly and don't shift. I use a drill press as an arbor press for these.

For clarification:

Top half of the snap buttons:

Bottom half of the snap buttons:

  • I had no issues with the bottom half install tools so these upgrades only help with the upper half.

Further upgrades:

The holder is made with a shape that allows a (TPU) spring to be attached between the tool and the chuck and have it press the rivet down automatically. I haven't made yet one because its not necessary and can be held by hand.

Specifically for the Bosch PBD 40 drill I also made an insert that fits this base
