Disclaimer: This is a remix of the model ‘Voronoi Lattice Benchy’ by @OverflowTesting, but since the original model is deleted, I can't properly mark it as remix. His model was a single benchy, which I just copied six times and rotated accordingly.
The biblically accurate Benchy, a torture test for every FDM printer, but also a nice decorative piece.
For good results, I recommend:
- 0.1mm layer height.
- a 0.2 or 0.25 mm nozzle.
- setting the printing temperature to the lowest recommended setting of the respective fillament, or slightly lower.
- Enable the option 'Avoid crossing curled overhangs' in PrusaSlicer so that the nozzle doesn't break the thin details. (Or something similar in the slicer of your choosing.)
I printed this with Prusament PLA Vanilla White at 200°C.
The model has to be printed twice and then glued together, this makes it possible to print it without supports. Keep in mind that this also means the total print time is above 40 hours.
The provided gcode uses a small brim, which is not really required, but when printing something that takes a day to finish I think it's better to be safe, than sorry.
The optional sign has two thin sections to allow the two supports to be bent backward after printing. Since the text is raised, it only requires one filament change.
