Holder for your glasses to keep them secure and scratch-free.
There are several other designs out there with a hook on the backside, but they all require a quite precarious balancing act when resting your glasses, also they tend to fall off very easily.
I opted for a more practical solution and simply put a gap through the head instead. This makes it way more practical and easy to use, especially one-handed. Also, it holds your glasses more securely without the risk of falling off.
