Sorry…this is a what?
Every spring Jews around the world gather for a ritual meal to retell the story of the Exodus from Egypt. The meal contains six symbolic foods that are placed on a special plate. This plate has always been two-dimensional…until now.
Print instructions
Print 1 base, 1 cap and 6 arms. No need for rafts or supports.
You will also need six seder plate liners. These are the ones I used.
Starting with the base, screw on the arms, one-by-one, and then the cap.
Place the dishes as shown in the picture and you're done.
The arms should connect via the threads so that each arm is offset 60 degrees from the adjacent arms. If you don't want 60 degrees, simply unscrew each arm a little -- there are enough threads that you should still be okay.
Generally, I do not recommend 3D Printing for Food
While a seder plate is technically a "dish", I do not recommend eating from a 3D printed anything.
My understanding is that even if your filament is certified food-safe, that does not mean your printing process is certified food safe. And the highly textured surface of 3D printed models are a haven for all kinds of microbes.
I'm not worried about the seder plate because the food goes onto small glass dishes, not the print itself.
Backstory
I tried making Steve Medwin's seder plate, but found that the seder plate liners that I used didn't fit properly (they were 1/4" smaller in diameter and non-uniform in height).
I tried simply scaling in the x-y direction, but that wasn't working for me, so I ended up remixing it to see if I could get it to work better with my seder plate liners.
Once I was doing that, I changed the press fit connections to threaded connections and also re-mixed the base to be more similar to JA Mott's design.
