Lane Cedar Chests/Hope Chests have had a known issue where a child could climb inside and suffocate without being able to lift the lid because the latch is released from the outside of the chest. A friend explained the situation to me and I designed a model to replace the lock mechanism. Please note that there are no moving parts and this does not lock or latch anything. This model simply fills the volume of the old lock to plug the hole that the recalled lock leaves when uninstalled.
I plan to update this post later with more pictures of the model printed in wood-filled PLA. Most materials should suffice for this model.
