This is a replacement for the black plastic chute holder funnelling coffee grounds from the mill housing into the chute of the Quick Mill Apollo mod. 060 coffee grinder (original model, with the arched chute). The original part easily wears out since the screw that attaches the chute is self-tapping.

This is my first FreeCAD design. If you find room for improvement, please go ahead and remix! I tried to stay as true as possible to the original, but have chosen to add more material in some locations for a tighter fit, and make some other refinements..

Features

  • No modification of the mill required.
  • Enlarged channel for improved flow.
  • Does not require the two metal spacers of the original part.
  • Attaches the chute with a M3 screw and non-locking nut (inserted into the model after printing) so it doesn't wear out and the chute stays firmly attached.
  • Snug fit in the mill housing to avoid accumulation of ground coffee in gaps.
  • Does not contact the impeller - unlike the original..

Required materials

  • M3 x 6 mm screw; Pozidriv, Robertson - any sensible tip will do (1 pcs)
  • M3 nut, non-locking, height ~2.4 mm and width across flats ~5.4 mm (1 pcs)

(I also used roof density 50%, conical supports, and breaking supports up into smaller chunks, but this is perhaps printer dependant)
AdhesionAs needed, but a smooth PEI plate and supports should be sufficient.

Installation

Insert the nut into the slot from the bottom of the part (make sure it's aligned with the top hole), insert the screw, and tighten a bit. Depending on your printer and settings, this may be a tight fit.

Removal of the front/top cover is required. Reuse the two screws that hold the original part to the mill housing (the two steel spacers are not needed) to attach the holder.

Reinstall the cover. Push the chute onto the new holder. Tighten the screw.
