I decided I wanted a slightly different carbon filter with HEPA filter. One which would be modular but also a bit airtight.
This design stacks several stages which slide into a groove to maintain air tightness. Made to be used with carbon pellets of 4mm or larger size. (e.g. Nevermore pellets)
This design is based on a 24V Sunon 120mm × 34mm server fan and can be augmented by a 120mm × 25mm 24V fan on the top.
I will add a BOM soon.
Design uses a variety of M3 DIN912 screws and a couple of 3mm × 10 mm SW9090 screws for the C14 socket.
All screws are M3 DIN912 of varying length, but I have to check the lengths to be sure.
The carbonfilter stage needs 50mm IIRC. The optional top needs 40mm and the bottom part needs 16mm IIRC. You'll need 16 or so M3 Nyloc nuts and 9 M3 washers.
Both the top and bottom have a 120mm fan guard grille
The mesh is a 115mm × 115mm mesh with 0.9mm wire and 3.3mm hole size. (IIRC 10 gauge mesh?)
Used 24 gauge wiring and JST XH connectors
I added some 12V LED strips in series, but this is entirely optional. I consider this implementation to be a bit janky, it could use a diffuser to cover the strips so that the light is not as bright and to increase safety. For now hot glue is making sure of the latter.
