My mom gave me her rolling suitcase because the button was broken in half. The bag got damaged more last time I flew. This is the third version of the button and it's as good as I can make it. Tolerances are tight for smooth operation, make sure your printer is dimensionally accurate. I print it with the button facing up, although on the side might be stronger.
Please note replacing the button can't fix a problem with the locking mechanism down inside the handle. Some times buttons get broken because the suitcase got kicked around or dropped and a stuck locking mechanism encouraged the owner to mash on the handle button really-really hard… ask me how I know ;-)
Unexpected bonus is that now it's super easy to spot my luggage on the carousel after the flight, just print your button in a bright color and you'll be able to spot your bag from far away!
