This knockbox has a detachable knock bar and built-in sieve for letting the water out of the  coffee grounds. Below, there's a cup to capture the liquid.

It's possible to print this model both in multimaterial version and with a single extruder (but then with some limitations).

Multimaterial version

The multimaterial version is intended to have the insides of both the knock box and the cup clad with TPE to protect from moisture.

The 3mf files are configured for a 5 tool XL. The model in the photo is printed with the following materials:

ExtruderMaterialPart
1Prusament PLA Galaxy BlackKnockBox, Bar, InterfaceLayer
23DJake EcoPLA Silk CopperDecoration, Lower, Cup
4Recreus Filaflex SEBS BlackRubberKnockBox, RubberFoot,
RubberBar, RubberCup
5Polymaker PolySupportBreakaway support material
 Notes
  • Some of the model parts are intended to clip/subtract from others. For example, knock-RubberKnockBox.stl overlaps KnockBox.stl. In order for clipping to work correctly in PrusaSlicer, RubberKnockBox needs to come after KnockBox in the list of parts. The dependencies are: RubberKnockBox after KnockBox, Lower after KnockBox, Decoration after KnockBox, InterfaceLayer after KnockBox,  RubberFoot after InterfaceLayer, RubberBar after Bar, RubberCup after Cup.
  • Silk material doesn't attach well to SEBS. The PLA InterfaceLayer part solves this since PLA weakly attaches to SEBS RubberFoot and silk then attaches well to the PLA. If you get problems with the InterfaceLayer not sticking to the RubberFoot, try using a fifth extruder for InterfaceLayer with PLA at a higher temperature, like 235 C.

Single extruder version

It's possible to print a single extruder/non-MMU version of the knock box. Then print KnockBox, Bar and Cup. Skip the Rubber parts, Decoration, Lower and InterfaceLayer. If you choose to print Cup in a different color, you can insert a color change on KnockBox at 27mm to get the same color for the bottom part.

Print settings

The model in the photo was printed with:

  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 15% grid infill (Bar 25%)
  • Bar should probably be printed with 3 perimeters
  • The multimaterial version was printed with the 0.2mm Soluble Interface profile.

Thanks

Thanks to Zulu Whiskey for the idea of using copper silk in the lower segment!
