I encourage you to play with FreeCAD for excellent parametric part designing.
FreeCAD has 2 huge advantages which my expensive CAD software doesn't have. Built in 3D primitives and spreadsheet. This design was built almost entirely of 3d parts. only the nut was designed in 2D and extruded.
